Concluding thoughts and implications

chapter
posted on 2023-06-09, 21:39 authored by Chrstine Grant, Emma RussellEmma Russell
In this conclusion, we acknowledge that a wide range of research and expertise has been accessed to make a significant contribution to academic literature and practice relating to the human side of agile working. We outline key contributions of this book and provide seven principles of agile working to aid organisations and workers seeking to implement effective agile work practices as we move towards a new post-pandemic era of work. We conclude that productivity and well-being, at organisational and individual levels, must be considered equally, to determine what is effective. Future pathways for research are discussed to further move this field of research forward, including a need to explore the innovative aspects of agile working, engage in longitudinal studies, and develop alternative theoretical approaches for framing our understanding of agile work.
