book
posted on 2023-06-09, 19:18 authored by Marino De Luca, Stefano Rombi
In recent years the Italian primaries have become a distinctive model and a well-established practice of the party system at both national and local level. In this dynamic, the primary elections for the choice of the region's presidential candidates have taken on an increasingly significant role. Selecting Presidents addresses the theme of the regional primaries of the center-left and the Five Star Movement through the analysis of data collected by Candidate and Leader Selection, Standing Group of the Italian Society of Political Science. The text explores several cases and analyses political characteristics and rules, focusing on variables such as participation, competitiveness, the performance of the selected candidate and, more generally, the impact of primaries. The aim is to give the reader the opportunity to evaluate in a comparative way the different cases analyzed ensuring internal consistency and homogeneity in form and style.
