posted on 2023-06-07, 08:28 authored by Augusto CorrieriAugusto CorrieriIn this opening 'provocation', magician and artist Augusto Corrieri reflects on the recent history of conjuring, particularly its 'modern' secular and theatrical version. The essay proposes that theatrical magic invites, above all, a mode of philosophical meta-questioning: once it enters the theatre, the presentation of magic becomes about questions regarding the nature of the peculiar 'reality' that is the theatre, a place for 'real simulations'.
