Shame and the Anti-Feminist Backlash: Britain, Ireland and Australia, 1890–1920, published in the centenary year celebrating the extension of statutory Parliamentary suffrage to some women in the United Kingdom, provides an invaluable contribution to the political context and contemporary debates around the campaigns for women’s suffrage in different geopolitical locations in the early twentieth century.This piece reviews the monograph.
