Living in a remixed world: comparative analysis of transformative uses in copyright law
This article looks at transformative uses in copyright law, these are the re-uses and re-mix of a work to create an entirely new piece, in other words, a work protected by copyright is changed and transformed. Is the resulting work an infringement, or worthy of its own protection? Various legal questions arise from such cases, such as whether there is copyright infringement in the transformative use of a protected work, and if so, where is the line crossed. If there is infringement, is there some sort of defence in copyright law?
