The life of head and neck cancer survivors may be improved by reducing xerostomia (dry mouth). The failure of conventional medicinde to provide durable relief has led toa revival of complementary approaches. This paper is a commentary on a systematic review by O'Sullivan and Higginson into current evidence on whether acupuncture is a safe and useful form of treatment for irradiation-induced zerostomia.
