Abstract
Since its inception in 1964, the University of Sussex Library's literature classes have been based on the date of birth of the author. We have long been aware of the flaw in this system which makes it difficult to fit those born post-2000 into the logic of the scheme. With this in mind, together with the desire to conform to international classification standards, a decision was made to reclassify affected areas to Library of Congress. This article reports on phases 1-2 of a planned 4-phase project.
