This Article examines the role of the EU in forging new trade deals which complement the Single Market. This marks the EU as a magnet for attracting trade. The blog examines the consequences of new deals with Ukraine and Canada and asks whether the UK will be able to ignore the regulatory pull of EU standards in its post-Brexit relationship with the EU - and the rest of the trading world.
