journal contribution
posted on 2023-06-09, 02:51 authored by Sarah Lou Bailey, James Price, Martin LlewelynMartin LlewelynSchistosomiasis in the returning traveler is closely associated with fresh water exposure in sub-Saharan Africa and is commonly asymptomatic. We describe two patients who presented with unusual gynecological presentations of schistosomiasis many years after travel to endemic areas. The manifestations of female genital schistosomiasis are discussed. Schistosomiasis in the returning traveler is commonly asymptomatic but can present as chronic disease many years later. These two cases of upper genital schistosomiasis demonstrate unusual sequalae of ectopic schistosomal migration.
