The British Raj, Gandhi and his practice of politics in India in the 1930s and 1940s
The British Raj in India was a power to be reckoned with having colonised a whole sub-continent. India was a jewel in the British crown and a cornerstone of her empire. By the 1930s however, the edifice of the Raj had come under serious attack with an onslaught of a movement of continental proportions, the civil disobedience movement led by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
