Abstract

The editors of Hors de Combat, Diergo F Garcia Quiroga (‘first in, first out', p. 3) and Mike Seear (‘last in, last out'. p. 8), fought on different sides of the Falklands/Malvinas conflict. Alongside an increasing number of veterans of war, Seear and Garcia Quiroga aim to share their experiences: to give voices to their comrades, inform civilians of the impact of warfare on combatants and inform government and military policy. Their collection is also an act of remembrance. The contributors ‘shared respect for our dead and our painful memories as we praised the courage and determination of each other’. (p. x)
