Introduction
chapter
posted on 2023-06-08, 08:38 authored by J-P Boulé, Benedict O'DonohoeThe thrust of this brief chapter is that the binary pairs of "mind and body" and "word and deed" were, for Sartre, inextricably connected within themselves and to each other. This assertion is substantiated by reference to the volume's twelve chapters, divided into the four parts: "Sartre and the Body", "Sartre and Time", "Sartre: Ideology and Politics", and "Sartre in Japan".

Notes
This is a genuinely collaborative piece of co-writing. My co-editor began by roughing out a draft which mostly summarised the four sections of the volume. I then edited this and "topped and tailed" it with my own text, and we then agreed the whole.Full text available
