Additional Information: | The paper summarizes one of the key outcomes of the CoPS project, published in a widely known US journal. This consists of the advance beyond `systems integration of corporations' into `integrated solutions', whereby manufacturing companies progress to including service functions in the product packages they offer. The paper analyses common as well as distinctive features of this progression. Prof Hobday led the CoPS project and contributed one-third of this paper. |
