Notes
A jointly authored account by Leach and a Nigerian research whom she supervised into gender equity in a teacher training college in Northern Nigeria. Gender studies in African colleges of education, and research into gender issues by African men, are both very rare. The research found that discrimination, including sexual harassment, and marginalisation of female staff and students in the college was widespread, and that it was facilitated by male manipulation of policies and procedures within the college. This study complements research carried out by Leach into gender violence in African schools. The article was reviewed by two international referees. Leach's input is based on supervision of the thesis, subsequent writing up of the article based on findings reported in the thesis and additional theorisation around institutional gender relations.Full text available
