Notes
Experimental measurements of heat transfer are presented taken from the inner peripheral surface of different builds of rotating test rig designed to be similar to a gas turbine H.P. compressor internal air system. The measurements show similarities with established correlations for natural convection from a heated plate in a gravitational field. This work is of importance to the designers of turbomachinery and also of interest as a fundamental study of convection in rapidly rotating systems. The lead author (Dr. C. A. Long) supervised Dr. A. Alexiou who gained his D.Phil on this test rig. The lead author also wrote the entire paper. A. Alexiou was a (Sussex E&D) Research Fellow when this paper was published.Full text available
