Notes

A wide range of techniques are available for temperature measurement. However measurement of rotating disc temperatures in a jet engine or an industrial gas turbine engine is particularly challenging. This paper looks at the technological solutions offered by use of fiber optic technology for developing innovative devices for measuring temperature by non-invasive methods in gas turbine engines, resulting from an industrially sponsored research programme with Rolls Royce plc.
