Originality: Analyses and compares representations employed in commercial and educational Object-Oriented software development environments. Rigour: Applies the Cognitive Dimensions Framework to the analysis of the representations. Significance: Proposes an account of important factors that could influence the cognitive difficulty of dealing with external representations in these sorts of environments.
