This book combines three sections, the first is an introductory essay considering the metaphoric implications of the Tar Baby story for the constructions of race within the slave dispora. The second are reprductions of a series of images which again reflect on the 'Tar Baby' mythology. The third section is made up of a series of short stories which think about sexuality, history, memory and race in the context of Atlatnic slavery.
