Additional Information: | Hartley helped develop the ideas, design the experiments and did substantial amounts of the writing. This is the first experimental demonstration that silica is an effective inducible defence that reduces vole growth rates, identifying the first credible mechanism by which plant-based factors could drive population cycles in small mammals. |
