Notes
Based on ESRC-funded international research in the UK and the US (ESRC Ref R000237658), this is the first article to systematically survey all drug safety withdrawals in the UK and the US and to systematically test a set of hypotheses generated within sociology of medicine about why there were so many more drug safety withdrawals in the UK than the US in this period. The article was requested as an evidential authority by the US National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine investigation into drug safety systems during 2005-2006. Authors' contribution was equal in all respects.Full text available
