Additional Information:	High-resolution turbine efficiency measurements in a transient test facility represent a European first, and will be the second report in Journal publication. The technique allows, for the first time, the simultaneous investigation of turbine efficiency and heat transfer. The work is of significant importance to the gas turbine industry (Dr N Harvey, neil.harvey@rolls-royce.com), and is influencing the work of several international academic research groups including the Von Karman Institute, (Dr G Paniagua - paniagua@vki.ac.be) and QinetiQ (UK) who are now active in the development of this technique.
