This paper discusses the pedagogy of computer programming in music technology pathways, with a particular focus on Queen's University of Belfast (QUB). It presents the rationale for the inclusion of programming in music technology and progresses to discuss the associated problems from a student's perspective. One approach that has proven to be successful in addressing these problems is discussed, and its degree of success measured via minute papers. Finally, a novel approach is presented which will also address student problems in learning computer programming.
