Additional Information: | It has often been observed that eras of technological change have coincided with major organizational change, such as the rise of the factory system during the first Industrial Revolution, but there has been no general treatment of why or how such `coevolution' takes place. This paper opens the field by sketching out what a theory of coevolution might require in this context. The paper uses its approach to coevolution to open the field to theoretical investigation. |
