Abstract

As the global economic crisis found Greece and Ireland both adopting austerity measures to counteract escalating debts and deficits, many analysts have, once again, been tempted to draw parallels between the two European Union nations. In this interview with Athens Plus, Andreas Antoniades, an expert in political economy, explains why Greece is not Ireland, analyzes the structural shortcomings behind Greeces economic woes, but also expresses optimism Greece still has the capacity to become the new Ireland.
