Abstract

Free-standing, inland exposures of sandstone cliff s are found in four regions of England: the Central Weald in the southeast; the Welsh Borders, North and West Midlands the Pennines and Peak District of North Central England and the North-East. Each of these groups of exposur is developed in sandstone of diff erent age and geological charactersitics
