Such students commonly undertake their studies independently, with supporting institutions organising supervision. The impact of COVID-19 has been explored from the perspective of medical students, but not necessarily allied research roles. This survey complemented our UK professionals’ study and builds upon contemporaneous research such as the National Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (NPRES) 2021, providing context-specific data.
