An original musical soundtrack by Ed Hughes is featured on this DVD release by the British Film Institute, as part of its 'Ozu Collection'. The music accompanies Yasujiro Ozu's 'Woman of Tokyo' (1933). The drama proceeds in a series of dialogues ranging through happiness to contempt and despair. These exchanges are matched in the musical soundtrack by two instruments, cello and percussion, also in dialogue with one another. The accompanying booklet also includes a short article by Ed Hughes on the composition process.
