Additional Information: This paper describes the results of numerical predictions of the effect of leading edge erosion on the performance and flutter stability of turbomachinery fan blades. The results has a significant impact on the design of aero-engine fan design at Rolls-Royce by providing an understanding of the impact of the in-service change in the shape of the blade's leading edge on performance and flutter stability. Guide lines were produced to assess the effect of re-profiling the fan blades to recover the loss of performance resulting from in-service leading edge erosion.
