Do we know how science works? A brief history of the scientific method - Do we know how science really works? How has the scientific method, if indeed there is one, developed from ancient Greek times to the modern day?

The new programme of study for KS4 science has, as an underpinning approach, how science works. The Qualifications and Curriculum Agency includes in this approach scientific method. This article provides some background information on the development of the scientific method across the history of scientific working and asks which, if any, school of thought we should apply to school science.
