Additional Information: This is an original demonstration that insects use retinotopically-independent visual cues to prime retinotopic visual memories during navigation. We present a model accounting for the idiosyncratic paths taken by individual ants. This paper was the subject of a Dispatches article in Current Biology. Authors contributed equally.
