Notes

This 100-page document reports on a four year research project funded by the EU and a consortium of European gas turbine manufacturers. Experimental work was carried out to investigate the flow behaviour (using LDA) and heat transfer inside the internal air system of a high pressure compressor. These measurements were made in an extremely difficult and challenging environment with high rotational speeds and limited access. The results have been incorporated into design codes and to validate CFD codes used by the sponsoring organisations.
