Additional Information: The paper is based on simulation work done at University of Moratuwa on CFD. This is the first publication from a newly formed CFD research group at University of Moratuwa and the paper was important for that matter. The work involved modelling of combustion taken place in a propane-fired Bunsen burner using CFX, a general Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code. The general transport equations of fluid flow have been solved in conjunction with the equations describing the turbulence and the combustion processes. The combustion flow field has been approximated using the k-e turbulence model and the Eddy break-up combustion model is used to approximate the combustion. Simulation is conducted for the Bunsen flame with a square shaped mild steel plate kept perpendicular to the flow direction. Temperature and combustion product concentration predictions have been made using the simulation. The predicted temperatures of the metal plate are compared to that of the measurements.
